Gracie is younger than Couture and the Lesnar fight it going to be huge PPV. So if americans can use an overhyped (he was 4-5 during a span in UFC) old dude to get ratings/money, I feel its hypocritical to poopoo when japanese do the EXACT same thing.
Great comment, V. I think we're saying that some fighters "age" better than others. Couture came back and won the UFC HW Championship at his age. Gracie, while he is a pioneer for the sport, isn't able to control fights as he has done in the past. His fight with Hughes not too long ago comes to mind. Even in victory, his last fight with Sakuraba was not a good performance by any means, and his draw with Tokoro was less than spectacular as well. Those are all his most recent fights. Ken Shamrock would be another guy who has had trouble in his more "advanced" age, and he's younger than Couture.
These guys are great ambassadors for the sport, but hardly at the top of their game. Even Randy, as big of fans as we are, we've said for the record that we are very concerned about Randy coming through this mini HW tournament without a loss, which would make his fight with Fedor insignificant. Now if Randy were to somehow beat Lesnar and then the winner of Nogueira/Mir - a fight with Fedor would be epic! But let's see what happens with Lesnar before we plan the ticker-tape parade.
Again, great comment, V. Thanks for your input and candid opinion. You make the show that much more interesting with your participation.
